Hi,

I am unable to send emails. This happened suddenly and I have been trying to fix for some days. I have read your articles and made the suggested changes but to no positive result. I have tried changing the SMTP settings and that has not worked. It is not the firewall/antivirus as this problem occurs even when they are turned off.

The problem occurs when I try to send and then the message will hang and then the menu bar on the email will grey out and the only tab still vivid is the one labelled "security". When I click that it shows that it does not recognize the email address of the recipient.

This happens to ALL test emails even when trying to send to previously able email addresses and self owned email addresses , even to the same address for sending out. It occurs on ALL send emails.

This may have happened after the last update. Since I was able to send after the update to 78.8.0, I will try to roll back to that and if failing that, will roll back to 68.

I note that the list of previous versions is a a little confusing. For example with the 78.8.0 versions, there is a wins32 and 64 version. and some versions have ".exe" and ".msi" and so not sure which updates attempts will work. The 68 version has Thunderbird Setup 68.8.0.exe as well as .msi.

I use a dell laptop with windows 10 OS. Which versions do you recommend ? Or do you have other suggestions on how to fix this problem.

Thanks, F1

Additionally, I would like to add that I was using Thunderbird Portable on a permanently plugged in external drive when this happened. I did do a clean install on my main drive and found that the problem persists in the newly installed Thunderbird.
