is there a way to preserve the cookies from my favorites and delete all others in one go ? The cookies list is to big to find and uncheck only favorite websites

If you have a cookie allow exception for your favorite websites then you can try to let cookies expire when you close Firefox to see if that gets rid of the other cookies.

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: [ ] "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed"

Otherwise you probably need to revisit your favorite websites to recreate these cookies.

Internet Explore has an option "Preserve Favorites website data"

If you check this box and the "Cookies" box, then Internet Explorer will delete cookies only for sites you do not have listed as Favorites.

Why is this option not in firefox ?

I have the same issue.

  • I want all my cookies deleted when I close Firefox
  • except a few from a specific list of domains. For example, the cookies my password managers uses to manage state, so I won't need to log in every time I close Firefox.

I checked Options/Browser Privacy/History/Clear history when Firefox closes. I need a way to define the domains to preserve. IIRC this was possible before the privacy refresh. Is there a setting for it in the new interface?

Hi Robert N

You can't use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear cookies because this clears all cookies including cookies with an allow exception. The only way to keep cookies with an allow exception is to use "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed", otherwise all (selected) cookies are removed.

This worked. Thank you!

These two independent options for cookie management/deleting is confusing.
