I just updated Firefox to 33.0.3 and it freezes every time that I try to go to any website but my homepage. It freezes the whole computer and the only way to resolve is to manually power down the computer. Can't even get the task manager to come up using Control+Shift+Escape. Here is my system info:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601 Other OS Description Not Available OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation System Manufacturer SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD. Thanks but that didn't work. After posting this I discovered that it was only happening with bookmarked links. I did a full uninstall/reinstall and that did not resolve it. I also tried deleting the bookmarks and adding them again (via export, then import) and still had the same issue. However, when I deleted all of the bookmarks and then manually bookmarked the sites again, the issue appears to be resolved. Pretty crappy way to have to fix it. I'll let you know if it happens again. Thanks for the quick reply.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

Next time, or do it now, save your bookmarks using the HTML option. Delete the old file. Firefox will recreate it next time it runs. Then have FF reload the HTML file.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.
