Aftr your latest updates I can no longer access my e-mails sent before updates installed

When I opened Mozilla about half an hour ago the software immediately starting installing updates automatically. Since then all that happens when I open Mozilla is page "Welcome to new Thunderbird" appears and I cannot get back to the original e-mail page - it just flashes up momentarily behind the new page.

What can I do to return to my original e-mail page because I am awaiting important mail?

Close the tab the welcome screen is on.
