Hi! I would like to embed a Youtube video in an e-mail so the receiver would be able to play it directly from the mail. All I got when inserting the embed code as HTMl is a blank square pointing me to the Youtube site, which is something I don't want.

Is there a way to do this with Youtube videos?

Thank you!

I guess the smiley is why you stuff got truncated.

What should I do about Javascript to make this work?

Not use Thunderbird, or email really. The iFrame is not supported in most mail clients either.

Thunderbird will allow you to embed video using this method https://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_video_autoplay.asp

But again support across mail clients on phone etc will be spotty. While mail is HTML, it is a good idea to check on support for many elements with folks like campaign monitor as they make a living sending email advertising. So they tend to be cross client experts in what works and what does not.

it looks like your using JavaScript. Thunderbird does not execute JavaScript in emails. Other mail clients do, other mail clients are always reminding folk not to open mail from unknown senders. I prefer no JavaScript and no instant infection on opening the mail.

Hi Matt. Thanks for your quick answer.

I just copied the embed code from youtube and inserted it as HTML. I don't know if that implies to use Javascript. I don't have such knowledge

I don't know why the edit option cuts the msg so I paste it again here.

Thanks a lot for your answer Matt. At least I have a picture now about why isn't possible "as is". I will take a look at those links.
