Since upgrading Firefox to version 34.0.5, I keep getting the message "'Firefox.app' is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?" How do I prevent this? I'm on a Mac running OS X 10.9.5.

This is because of Gatekeeper. The way around is open System Preferences and go to Security and Privacy. Click the lock, which will then prompt you to type in an administrator username and password. You will see "Allow apps downloaded from:" and you can either select the option to allow apps from anywhere or click a button that says that you can open Firefox anyway.
