Hi George, I assume you get this message in Thunderbird (rather than in the Firefox browser)?
To set up your new address: Automatic Account Configuration
You can turn off checking on your old account, but you might not want to delete it right away in case that affects what mail Thunderbird has downloaded in the past. A Thunderbird expert can chime in on that.
