I'm beta testing Catalina as an Apple developer. When I tell the OS to start Firefox, it tells me "Firefox Software Update.app can't be opened because Apple cannot check if for malicious software." I searched for an app of that name without success.

As far as I can tell, we've just landed support for the necessary changes to satisfy the requirements for that prompt into our 69 release. That should be released to our beta users next week.

Note: that will still be a preview version and it may not be fully stable just yet.

Also, if you install the beta, it will clone your profile into a separate one as we now have Dedicated profiles per Firefox installation.

It appears this problem also exists when trying to open Netflix and AmazonPrime. I know this may have been fixed with Updater but it has not when trying to use Firefox with Netflix and AmazonPrime. Any suggestions?

I have a substantially similar problem (see graphic). Started about a week ago. I searched entire drive and cannot find a file with that name on my Mac.

When I click on an embedded link in an email I get an immediate popup that really doesn't look like what I'd expect from Mozilla folks. Not clear if it's from Firefox 69.0 or MacMail

I do have AV, malwarebytes premium, and it's up to date. iMac 27 late 2009 12GB macOS 10.13.6 Firefox 69.0 MacMail 11.5

This problem has been resolved with the latest updates to MacOS Catalina. I no long have an issue starting or using Firefox.

Good to know it's fixed. Not sure where to get Catalina, App Store is pushing Mojave 10.14.6 today. Think I saw Catalina is in beta test and I'm not a bleeding edge user. I'll try 10.14 and report back.

Some programmer needs to use more elaborate names not just "Updated.app" so the obscure error condition can be researched and definitely tied to a specific program/product/organization by us civilians.

Thanks!

Sorry, I am in beta test for MacOS catalina and did have problems initially with Firefox. I should have clarified that. I am not sure your problem is the same as what I reported. Either way, I no longer have a problem with Firefox.

My iMac is no longer supported for 10.14. Ten years old and doing great! I'll just use my workaround CMD-C. Or my wife's newer Macbook. Thanks for your response.
