Why is Noscript 5.1.8.6 addon no longer allowed with Firefox ESR 45.9.0 when it was previously approved?

I still use Windows XP with a SSE only processor so need to use Mozilla Firefox ESR 45.9.0.

Noscript 5.1.8.6 is no longer allowed to work. It was previously approved so how has it suddenly become unsafe. Not having the use of Noscript 5.1.8.6 makes my web browsing less safe so I cannot understand why it needs to be prohibited. I also use Netcraft Anti-Phishing Toolbar 1.10.3, Buttonizer 0.2.1, Decentraleyes 1.3.10, HTTPS Everywhere 5.2.21 and Ghostery 5.4.10. I do hope that Mozilla zeal does not also deprive me of these addons which were also previously deemed safe.

Can't Noscript 5.1.8.6 be made 'allowed' again?

When this happend? On May 3, there is some certificate expiring issue that may cause this.

Mozilla has rolled-out a fix for this. The fix will be automatically applied in the background within the next few hours, you don’t need to take active steps.

In order to be able to provide this fix on short notice, they are using the Studies system. You can check if you have studies enabled

Go to [=] > Options > Privacy & Security. Make sure Allow Firefox to install and run studies is check marked. I you had it disabled, you can disable studies again after your add-ons have been re-enabled.

They are working on a general fix that doesn't need to rely on this and will keep you updated.

Thank you Chandan. I now understand what is going on. My Firefox Quantum installations have updated themselves. I do not expect that older versions of Firefox will receive updates but I know what my options are.

Automatic updates can be very confusing and possibly counterproductive. Sorry for any inconvenience!

There is a system Add-on planned for older Firefox versions that do not support the hotfix.
