Thunderbird crashing at launch but works in safe mode. Get windows blue screen IRLQ NOT LESS OR EQUAL

more options

After both updates to Thunderbird and Windows 10 Thunderbird crashes immediately upon launching. I do mean I cant get past trying to launch it!. I get a Windows 10 blue screen with the message "IRQL not less or equal". I have to shut down and restart the computer each time. I figured out how to get into safe mode and Thunderbird works just fine there. Really like Thunderbird and have used for years and have never had this happen. I have no other problems with anything else except this issue as a result of the Windows and Thunderbird updates. I don't which of the two is causing the crash? I disable all the add ons while in safe mode and made them permanent but this had no effect. I was going to uninstall and reinstall but I don't with if this will destroy all my many important folders which are very important to me.

Chosen solution

If TB works in TB safe mode, there are other factors besides add-ons to consider. When you start in safe mode, select 'Reset toolbars and controls' and click 'Make changes and restart'. Any difference?

Or, did you mean TB works when you run in Windows safe mode? In that case, incompatible security/AV programs are usually the cause.
