I keep getting "Failed to connect to server: imap.comcast.net" All other emails, gmail, aol, live, etc. are working fine. I have not changed any passwords or settings. I even tried deleting my account and adding it as a new account again. I keep getting "Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong?" Settings are automatically set. 993 with SSL ON and 587 (SMTP). But I also tried 143 with SSL ON and 465 (SMTPS) and that did not work either. My OS is Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon 64 bit. Thunderbird version: 60.2.1 (64 bit). I Even tried version 60.3.1 (64 bit) with the same results. My neighbor called me and asked for help with the same problem, not able to connect to imap.comcast.net. Hopefully, someone will be able to help.

Sounds like comcast are having some issues. https://downdetector.com/status/comcast-xfinity

I did locate info where someone also using Linux got a hint to change the IMAP server name from imap.comcast.net to imap.ge.xfinity.com

https://forums.xfinity.com/t5/Email-Web-Browsing/Error-The-connection-to-remote-server-imap-email-comcast-net/td-p/3167847 For those looking for a more direct answer, name resolution for imap.comcast.net seems to be failing recently. Users in the Ubuntu forum thread offer the resolution of changing the account's server to one of the IP addresses reported by "nslookup imap.comcast.net" (use the terminal, Luke.) Rather than using a fixed IP address, I reset the server name to imap.ge.xfinity.com (the canonical name for imap.comcast.net) then had to submit my password for the newly-named server. Works a treat.
