Disabling search & form history doesn't prevent it from always asking

Using a fresh installation of Firefox 55.0.2 on a fresh installation of Linux Mint 18.2, I cannot disable form history by turning off "Remember search and form history". (I'd rather NOT turn off search just to prevent form-memory, but that's a separate issue.) Regardless of the setting, Firefox asks me every time if it may remember every form's data, unless I tell it "never" for EACH AND EVERY webform. This doesn't scale, to put it mildly. Restarting Firefox doesn't help.

Is there some about:config property I can add to get it to shut up? Thank you.

Chosen solution

Firefox never asks about saving form data. Firefox only does this for saving a name and password.

Thank you, cor-el! Foolish of me not to notice that the only forms having the problem *were* logins. (Or for that matter, not checking the Privacy section for relevant settings.) Problem solved!
