When I update from v54.0 to v54.0.1 and restart Firefox, no window is displayed.

If I kill the resulting Firefox process then it works okay again back to v54.0

I have tried this many times!

Starting in Safe Mode does the same and creating a new profile and using that does the same too.

Help please.

does firefox 54.0.1 launch when you boot windows 10 into safemode (with networking) once for testing purposes?: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

hi, as this can sometimes be a symptom of malware that's active on a system, next to the security software already in place, please also run a scan with various other security tools like the free version of malwarebytes, adwcleaner & eset online one-time scanner.

Philipp Thank you for your quick response. I have Norton Security installed. I installed a Trial version of MalwareBytes Premium 3.1.2 and ran its Threat Scan which found nothing. I installed AdwCleaner 6.047 and it found a few things, but the only one relevant to Firefox was: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<Profile>\extensions\jid1-16aeif9OQIRKxA@jetpack.xpi I am going to get AdwCleaner to remove it and will try the update again....

Thanks Henry

Philipp That made no difference. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks Henry

Philipp 1,000 Thanks! I suspended BitLocker (after first trying and getting to the enter BitLocker code dialogue which I do not have to hand!), then rebooted in Safe Mode with Networking. Firefox actually launched by itself. I then got it to update and restart and it restarted okay with v54.0.1. I then restarted normally and it is all okay! Thanks Henry
