Despite choosing to open tabs from last session in options, Firefox opens the start page.

I set Firefox to open, upon starting, the tabs that I had open in my last session. However, Firefox will only ever open with the default start page.

Currently installed addons are as follows: - Awesome Screenshot - Disconnect - Disconnect Search - HTTPS Everywhere - uBlock Origin - Video Blocker

Can you make sure Firefox isn't set to clear history at shutdown?

You can check that on the Options page:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options

Then in the left column, click Privacy. If the selector says "Firefox will: Remember history" change that to "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history" so you can adjust this setting. (Of course, if it says "Firefox will: Never remember history", there's yer trouble.)

The checkbox for "Remember my browsing and download history" should be enabled (checked).

If "Clear history when Firefox closes" is enabled, click the Settings button to the right to review what is being cleared and make sure that "Browsing & Download History" does not have a checkmark. If the Settings button is grayed out, this is not the problem.

You may have corrupt sessionstore file(s). Delete all sessionstore* files and the sessionstore-backups folder.

Type about:support< enter > in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

No dice. Still only opens the start page.

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for here. Nothing seems out of the ordinary.

There are two settings;

  • When Firefox Starts

When the browser is started, what do you want to display? Many of us choose Show My Home Page.

  • Home Page

When a new page is opened, what do you want to be displayed?

  1. Use Current Page. Use what ever page(s) are open at that time.
  2. Use Bookmark
  3. Restore To Default. about:home shows a Mozilla home page with tools.

You can use any of these that you wish;

about:home (Firefox default home page), about:newtab (shows the sites most visited), about:blank (a blank page),

or you can enter any webpage or about: page you want.

Therein lies the problem. I want it to display the tabs I had open in the last session. I have it set to that. However, upon starting the browser, I'm shown the start page.

That seems to have done it. Didn't think that clearing the history would make a difference, though - never affected what tabs I had open in Chrome, to the best of my knowledge.
