HTTP/2 TLS

more options

Hello,

I am currently writing my bachelor thesis about the HTTP/2 protocol. I know that Firefox only supports HTTP/2 over TLS. My question is: Why was it decided that only HTTP/2 only works over TLS in Firefox? Even though the reasons may be obvious why the cleartext variant is not supported in Firefox and other browsers, I would kindly request an official statement from one of the responsible developers. Please note, that I would like to be able to quote the responsible person in my thesis. Please tell me, if you have any issues with that.

Best regards, Hendrik

Hi Hendrick, Sorry you will not find Firefox developers here. I suggest you try the mailing list & fora

If you ask a brief initial question you can at the same time ask which is the best place to obtain such information. You may also find some of the documentation in MDN of interest e.g.

hi hendrik, people replying here in the forum are mostly volunteers and normal firefox users like you, so we cannot provide you with any "official" statements. in this regard, please rather send a mail to the mailing list of the mozilla networking team at dev-tech-network@lists.mozilla.org. some background on this is also available at https://daniel.haxx.se/blog/2015/03/06/tls-in-http2/
