A few days ago I was in the middle of an Amazon multiple purchase page when Firefox crashed. When I tried to reboot it from the Icon I got a window saying some file could not be found. Later I did a reinstall from the original download file from a few years ago. Firefox loaded, told me I was using an old version and gave a button to upgrade, which I did successfully. The next day Firefox crashed again, nd this time all I get when I click on the "Download" button is a blank page stating "404 page not found." I uninstalled Mozilla/Firefox from my program file. I get the same msg when I try to download. I'm using Windows XP on a home brew computer. Let’s do a full clean re-install; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Do Not remove the profiles folder.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

The Systems & Languages link http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ should work however since you are using Windows XP you will get served 43.0.1 in which you can update to 46.0.1 from.

If you have WinXP SP3 and not SP2 then you can download Firefox 46.0.1 from https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/46.0.1/win32/ and pick your language.

WinXP users get 43.0.1 on mozilla.org due to SP2 users not being able to run the 43.0.2 and newer due to signing of setups.
