I'm running Mozilla Firefox 45.0.1 via the Microsoft Windows 10 Education Version 10.0.10586 operating system. Recently, videos on BBC web pages such as http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-36009196#sa-ns_mchannel=email&ns_source=inxmail_newsletter&ns_campaign=news_bbc%20news_email%20sent%20100420160836&ns_linkname=alert%20image-sa%22 have stopped working--on my local machine, anyway. All I get is a black box containing absolutely nothing. (Please see attached image file.) What steps, exactly, should I take to remedy this problem? All useful advice / instructions will be welcomed. Thank you!

That web page uses the Shockwave Flash plugin to play this media file for me.

I'm not seeing a Lego block icon in the screenshot, so I'm not sure sure what happens in your case.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions do not block content. There is security software that can interfere with loading content, so check that as well.

Thank you, cor-el, for your reply. There's no user-friendly way of determining whether or not an add-on is hindering loading of content, so although your reply was helpful it didn't solve the problem. Adobe Flash protected mode was enabled in my up-to-date Shockwave Flash plugin and reportedly could cause problems with video playback, so I disabled that function. However, BBC videos still failed to operate so I re-enabled protected mode. At this point I'm stuck: All I can do is hope the responsible corporation, whichever it may be, fixes what it's broken and BBC videos will work again. Best wishes to you!
