Foxfire repeatedly, over the past several weeks, has notified me to update my media player. I go through steps 1 and 2 and then get a notification that Norton has removed mediaupdate_1.2.exe because it is not safe. What can I do next?

hi, first off this sound like scam - no genuine firefox feature would ask you to install/update such stuff. but it might be a problem possibly caused by adware that's already active on your pc...

so please go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc).
also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there.
finally, run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.
