Have just switched to firefox on Mac as the main browser as Google is not helping things by forcing us to sign in every time.

However, even the latest version of Firefox is a big let down. The default search keeps restoring to Yahoo, no matter how many times you remove it from preferences.

And new tab keeps resetting to Yahoo as well - no matter how many times you change by browser.newtab.url path change.

Finally, I have no idea why randomly new tabs open with DNS Doubleclick - I have checked my computer and there is no trace of Doubleclick anywhere. I have even disabled ads on all my Google accounts.

Can anyone give a solution or will this just carry on?

hi errwin, this issue is most likely caused by one of your addons (adware). please either try to disable unnecessary addons or refresh firefox altogether...

Thanks philipp, this seems to have done the trick. I had been looking all over the computer for malware but the Addons.
