The site is http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi-bin/wwwjdic.cgi? (They also have alternative URLs but the animation still won't work.)

A specific example would be http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi-bin/wwwjdic.cgi?163568_%C5%EC

I'm using Windows 7 Pro. Firefox 38.0.5. (Everything worked fine before this latest update). No such problem when I use Google Chrome. I disabled all add-ons etc. Closed and restarted Windows 7 several times. to no avail. I did install a new full copy of FF 38.0.5 on a new folder with new name, but it incorporated all the contents of the old. I guess one has to completely remove the existing copy and then manually insert bookmarks, add-ons etc. from saved folders. Too risky and complicated for this old geezer.

Any ideas on how to solve this? Much obliged.

Chosen solution

Make sure that the image.animation_mode pref isn't set to none, but is at least once or normal.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

I got it to work in Firefox 39, you can try an installation of Firefox beta, but it will also come to release at the end of the month.

Good! I'll wait, then, thanks.
