I used to have preview of my most used websites but for some reason i don't have it anymore ever since i uninstalled a toolbar which became default search engine itself!! So now i want that instead of having a error message; the new tab show a blank tab when i click on '+' button!

You can check the browser.newtab.url pref on the about:config page and set that pref to your preferred new tab page.

  • the default new tab page with the tiles is about:newtab
  • the default home page is about:home
  • for a blank page you can use about:blank

The browser.newtabpage.enabled pref should be set to true to use the page set via browser.newtab.url as the new tab page.

I want the Google search page for the new tab.

Currently I get the "Ask" page and have to click on the "home" tile icon to get Google.

Please tell me how to get what I want.

Hi Robin

Did you check the browser.newtab.url pref of the about:config page page?

Maybe it is best to create a new thread for your question instead of using an existing thread.

Then you can provide more information like your operating system and installed extensions and installed plugins.

Hi Robin Turner, if you have an Ask add-on, that may continuously override the built-in setting. Check for and remove any Ask add-ons. See: Disable or remove Add-ons.
