Could you double-check that HP SimplePass is fully enabled? You can check on the Add-ons page. Either:
- Ctrl+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Then on the right side see whether it is set to "Never Activate" or "Ask to Activate".
For plugins that operate globally in the background like this one (i.e., it doesn't embed in the page like a media player) the best setting is "Always Activate".
If you change it: Often a plugin permission change applies only to new windows. If you launch a new window using Ctrl+n, can you confirm that SimplePass is working again?
Next, regarding links not working... In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: plugins still run.
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).
Any difference?
sorry none of these worked i dont know what could be wrong with either issue
In case your Firefox program files got damaged by the update, you could try the following type of reinstall that does not touch your settings files. Important: do NOT uninstall Firefox first. That is not needed.
Clean Reinstall
(1) Download a fresh installer for Firefox 36.0.1 from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ to a convenient location. (Scroll down to your preferred language.)
(2) Exit out of Firefox.
(3) Rename the program folder
(64-bit Windows folder names)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
to
C:\Program Files (x86)\OldFirefox
(32-bit Windows folder names)
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
to
C:\Program Files\OldFirefox
(4) Run the installer you downloaded in #1. It should automatically connect to your existing settings.
Any improvement?
Note: Some plugins may exist only in that OldFirefox folder. If something essential is missing, look in these folders:
- \OldFirefox\Plugins
- \OldFirefox\browser\plugins
it did solve the click problem thanks i will see if i can figure out the simple pass thing thanks for your help
