For the past 2 days I have been unable to use firefox without being bombarded with unwanted ads and search engine omega (which takes over everything)
On opening Firefox my homepage comes up for approx. 1 second and then it seems that an unwanted search engine (Omega) takes over completely. I have many, many ads appearing on my screen (including some rather unsavoury ones) and no attempt by me will stop them. I have tried getting rid of Omega from my list of search engines-but it always comes back!!
I do not seem to have these problems on my other Internet providers, but Firefox had been my preferred provider for many years (until now)! It is driving me crazy please help!!!!

hi valgrenville, that sounds like an issue caused by adware or malware that's active on your system, so please perform all these steps:
- reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
- afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
- finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.
