How do I get Flashplayer on Mozilla over preloaded Explorer version?
My new (11/2014) PC came with Internet Explorer pre-loaded. I set up Mozilla as my preferred homevbase and then tried to install Adobe Flashplayer. After failing I found that it is already installed as part of the Exporer pre-load. However, I cannot use Flashplayer via Mozilla: it seems it is only available via Explorer. But, clearly, I don't want to use Explorer (I don't trust it).
How can I get Flashplayer to work on Mozilla as well as, or instead of Explorer, please?

If you continue to receive error 1722 that means there are some windows errors going on. try googling this issue and trying some of Microsoft's steps to resolve.

Flash does come in two flavours. Go here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html ...and get the latest two versions for IE-type browsers and Firefox (plugin)-type ones. The .msi installers are best because Windows automatically makes a Restore Point before installing a program. A simple safety precaution. HTH PhredE 12th Jan'15

Hi PhredE
Thanks for that. All was going well until the install stage: when I got a Black Box message "Error 1722. There is a problem witth this Windows Installer Package".
I then tried various ways to solve/get round this problem (from Windows Support and elsewhere) but still no joy.
I have Windows 8 loaded and have tried to update to 8.1: again to no avail. But that's another problem.
Any ideas, please on how to get past the Error 1722 problem?
First, you should try to resolve your problem with being able to update to Windows 8.1. Check your date and time, contact Microsoft support (I believe they give free support for installing updates) etc.
Once that is all handled and your computer is fully updated, download and install http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/download/?installer=FP_16_for_Firefox_-_NPAPI&standalone=1

Hi Tyler
I finally got Windows 8.1 installed; restarted, then followed your link. It showed as fully installed, so I restarted. But still no Flashplayer, it seems.
Open up Firefox, type in about:plugins, press enter. Paste what you see here

Hi Tyler Thanks for all your help and advice.
The Flashplayer version you showed earlier installed OK: and the list of plug-ins indicated that it is active. However, I still can't get videos to work on Mozilla.
I've checked that Windows 8.1 is properly installed and that I have the latest version of Mozilla Firefox. I'm lost!
