Hi In the search box. Its a debacle the way the search engines all all balled up like that bubble computing win 8 cell phone software. Why cant you keep the options consistent in the same place ? You keep changing where options are on every update. I still don't have a stop button and have to press escape key. Now I cant tell what search engine is being used because there is no icon showing whats in use. Please keep it simple and be consistent with where options are. Its confusing enough as it is. Thank you

You can find the Search tab to modify the search engines in Options/Preferences between Tabs and Content in the current release.

If you want to restore the previously used standalone window then you can toggle this pref to false with a middle-click on the about:config page.

  • about:config page: browser.search.showOneOffButtons = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Note that there is a combined Stop/Reload/Go button that is positioned at the right end of the location/address bar.

  • Stop button: while the page is loading
  • Reload button: when the page has finished loading
  • Go button: when you modify the location/address bar content
  • Middle-click the Reload button to duplicate the current tab to a new tab

If you miss being able to switch search engines without going crazy with menus, try this out;

Context Search {web link} Expands the context menu's 'Search for' item into a list of installed search engines, allowing you to choose the engine you want to use for each search.
