I came back from vacation and turned on my computer and all of my pages I had saved were missing and all of my bookmarks are gone. This is unacceptable as this had all my bill paying sites in it and I need this all back now.

I know this won't help you now, but to be on the safe side in future. What I do, is to periodically save the bookmarks to my PC - and a flash drive.

Bookmarks > Show all bookmarks > Import and backup > Export bookmarks to HTML.

Hope you can retrieve your existing ones though!

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.

Are there any bookmarks.json or compressed bookmarks.jsonlz4 files in the bookmarkbackups folder in the profile folder?

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
