Is there anyway I can make a bookmark that when I click on it will run a program installed on the computer?

Hello all - I regularly use Firefox for my browsing/streaming/internet needs but to access a program I use for my work I have to use internet explorer. I was wondering - is there anyway to create either a command or input in to the Location portion of the bookmark toolbar properties that would allow me to click on that link to open a program (i.e. internet explorer)?
