Why not just make the blue star add bookmarks to the 'Bookmarks Menu'?

Why does the easiest option for adding a bookmark have to dismiss that bookmark to the Phantom Zone? I'm guessing very few people want their bookmarks to be added to the 'Unsorted Bookmarks' section directly by default, so why does the star do that by default? I also do have anecdotal search-engine data to support my claims, with many people asking some semblance of this very question I'm now asking, and even more that involve people getting confused and asking some version of "Where did my bookmarks go?" after using the star icon, being unaware of the 'Unsorted Bookmarks' 'section', if you can call such a thing a 'section'. I've looked in preferences for an option to change it so the blue star would automatically add them to the 'Bookmarks Menu' instead of sodding them off to Nowhereland, but I'm either missing it or it's not there. I did Google it for a bit but I got tired of slogging through similar but largely unrelated information, or the aforementioned confusion. I know, I know, I *can* 'right-click', or I *could* 'double-click' the star icon and change the folder, but why do I have to do that in the first place? It removes the convenience from the 'convenient' option. So there the star sits, mocking me, laughing at my multiple wasted clicks, unaware that it has no mortality of its own to ponder and still somehow using that lack of information against me. All I wanted was a better way, and it's right there in my face, close enough that I can *click* it, but still far enough away to mock my simplest desires. Thank you for what I assume was your time and consideration and any hypothetical help you may attempt to offer.

Chosen solution

You can use the Ctrl+D shortcut (Bookmark > Bookmark This Page) to have the current page bookmarked to the Bookmarks Menu folder.

Believe it or not, that is an intended feature - one-click to save a new bookmark to the Unsorted Bookmarks folder and two -clicks to get the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog box where you can select a different folder.

I agree that it may not be what most people want, but it's been that way since Firefox 3.o was released, back in June of 2008. BTW, the star turns to blue when the bookmark has been saved; if the page hasn't been bookmarked yet it is a black star.

I prefer to use { Ctrl + D } or drag'n'drop right into a folder in the Sidebar, when I want to save a new bookmark.

edited to correct a mistake in the keyboard command
