Installed new Linux OS, forgot password to profile when opening firefox, created new password, logged into my Profile which has the correct user picture, but all my passwords and bookmarks are gone. ( I want to cry man..)

Home Page desktop bookmarks gone. Recent updates to both my deskyop (win 11) and laptop (win 10+) has erased all my desktop bookmarks. I tried numerous setting in Mozilla but still nothing. How do I get them back ?

I dont want this profile feature at all it's a complete and total nuisance so I deleted the only profile it had for me but now everything but my bookmarks are gone and I need my settings restored. How do I completely disable this nuisance so I never have to see this annoying color bar in my application menu again? All my settings are destroyed now.

Hi! I reached out on Friday and was sent a code that expired in 5 minutes, missed the deadline and had to leave the library. I updated Firefox to 155 and can't find my bookmarks. Also found that a Microsoft update included Goggle Chrome that I uninstalled. Please advise on getting my bookmarks back thank you. I only have 30 minutes left on line. After discovering a bug in v1.57.0.1 (related to failing to play videos on facebook - bug report filed) - in a senior moment compounded by exhaustion, I uninstalled v 157.0.1 without making a backup of the profile. IOW, I fucked up.

After I installed a stable version, v 153.4.0, I selected my prior username profile from the firefox startup menu. I got a popup warning that attempting to load the profile of a newer version on this older version might corrupt the profile settings. But is offers only 2 option: create a new user profile or QUIT firefox. No option to attempt to load the profile I was using on v 157.0.1 even if risky.

Besides that, with a new raw profile, I am finding v153.4.0 buggy! When I open Settings (about:preferences) the sidebar is populated with all the normal sections but none of them show the options. the main window is blank, except for a search box for "Find in Settings".

I am getting too old for this :\

I *think* I had Sync enabled and my android cell phone added. but I am concerned that I might erase whatever profile settings I might have on my phone if it syncs with this new, blank profile on my desktop.

Is there a way to possibly recover the settings profile I had on v157.0.1 before i uninstalled it? anything 'preserved' in the Trash or ?? (I see nothing in Trash related to the firefox un-install)

I see several profiles in my current user > .cache > mozilla > firefox

I have made duplicates of all of them. Am I safe in trying to create a new user based on the profile of my prior account from v 157.0.1?

I have researched and use a few articles about recovering bookmarks from an old firefox. Either I am doing something wrong or I can't get the suggestions tp work. Please help this senior citizcen.

My previous session is not clickable. All 50 or so tabs are gone!?? HELP! How do I restore a previous session w/ older tabs? (History doesn't show tabs from months and months ago).

Hi, I wrote about a month ago and didn't get help in recovering my lost bookmarks. I've spent the month looking at .JSONLZ4 files to see if there was anything there, nothing I could find. I've gone through all the suggestions and haven't found the bookmarks. I have limited time on line, and appreciate the volunteers' time in addressing this issue, any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. Thank you! Mark

i accidentally uninstalled Firefox and lost my session, i have Tab Session Manager but it seems that the uninstallation also deleted the saved sessions in there...

can anyone please help?

I run normal firefox on linux. Fully up-to-date. Every time I quit the app, it reverts to a version of my profile from a month ago, and loads all the tabs I had open then, and then receives all the tabs that I sent to the device in the interim (~1 month). As I speak, it just caught the 60 or 70 tabs in this window.

I tried changing the name of my profile folder to randomstring.defaultOLD and changed one of the backups to randomstring.default. This didn't change the behavior. I'm still stuck in the loop. I saved my tabs with onetab, because firefox isn't remembering my session anymore. I thought it was something to do with updates, like it only loses its mind upon updates, but that's not true. It thinks it's updating firefox EVERY TIME, because the one time it's loading to 1 month ago it was updating, but I'm 100% sure there are no updates to firefox in my linux. It's just hallucinating.

The articles on restoring from backup are outdated. They say to use an html file. There is no html file. It's just folders for profiles, not html files. HELP!

I'm the kinda person who avoid getting updates cause don't fix it when it ain't broke, but they fix it now it's broke.

My Firefox automatically updating itself to version 157.0.1, which is a normal thing, but the unnormal one was that my tab groups are gone entirely. Like there are none left, which is weird knowing unwanted updates happened in the past with no meaningful changes to me, but this one did, albeit more displeasing.

Is there a way to restore all of my tab groups back? Thanks

Firefox updated without my knowledge, and all my data, including passwords and bookmarks, disappeared. My profiles still exist, but everything else is gone. I couldn't recover my data manually or through about:profiles. When I first opened Firefox and saw that everything was missing, I was prompted to import from Chrome and did so, so now I'm wondering if that messed things up. I just want my passwords back!!

I switched to Firefox from Chrome as my computer is too old (OS-High Sierra) and wouldn't support Chrome any more I've had to restart several times and each time I reopen Firefox, all my tabs are deleted. How can I prevent this and/or restore my tabs?
