Learn how Firefox requests unsent crash reports.
Learn why and when Firefox may ask you to send your unsent crash reports, and how that helps to improve the browsing experience for everyone.

=Why am I seeing this notification?=
When Firefox crashes, it will extract relevant information to debug and better understand the root cause of the crash. Two sets of data will be sent: a telemetry crash ping (if you have not opted-out of telemetry) that contains very basic information, and a crash report that contains more detailed data. For more information, please see [[Crash reports in Firefox for Desktop]].
There is a limitation, however: as this can contain personal identifiable information, Firefox needs to ask for your consent to submit crash reports.
Some components of Firefox may crash in ways where we cannot show you any on-screen message, because it is run in the background and may restart automatically. In those cases, you may see a notification if you experience a crash for which we still lack data.
=Crash Reports On-Demand=
The Crash Reports On-Demand feature is designed to address this issue: using telemetry, we know the crash signatures that are occurring frequently (therefore impacting you in one way or another) and for which we lack crash reports.
When we find crash reports of interest, we inform you through the notification below, asking for consent to send the reports.

=How this helps you=
While you will not see anything and your browsing experience should not be impacted, we are still keen to better understand what has happened as it may degrade performance or hide a security issue. We are informed of these crashes via the telemetry crash ping, and may be able to fix some of them using only that information, but for others, we need the extra information provided by crash reports. You can manually submit reports using [[Crash reports in Firefox for Desktop|<nowiki>about:crashes</nowiki>]].
When Firefox crashes, it will extract relevant information to debug and better understand the root cause of the crash. For more information, please see [[Crash reports in Firefox for Desktop]].
Crash reports may contain personally identifiable information, so they are not submitted automatically. They are only sent when you either check the corresponding option in the ''Crash Reporter'' or when you manually click Submit on ''about:crashes''.
However, sometimes the ''Crash Reporter'' cannot be opened, such as when the affected Firefox component is run in the background and restarted automatically. We may also not have enough data from the sent crash reports to fully investigate an issue. In such cases, Firefox can explicitly ask you to submit some of your unsent crash reports, displaying the notification below.

=When will I be asked to submit my crash reports?=
Using telemetry, we determine the crash signatures that are occurring frequently (therefore impacting you in one way or another) and for which we lack crash reports. When we find crash reports of interest, we inform you about that, asking for consent to send those reports.
=How will I benefit from that?=
Crashes disrupt your browsing experience, degrade performance and may even hide a security issue. While we are informed about them via the telemetry crash ping, sometimes we need extra information from the crash reports to fix the issue.
Submitting a crash report you help us eliminate its cause and prevent the crash from happening again. Moreover, you also help other Firefox users who may experience the same issue.
=How else can I help?=
You can manually submit your crash reports by entering ''about:crashes'' in the address bar. You can also [[Crash reports in Firefox for Desktop#w_allow-firefox-to-automatically-send-crash-reports|allow Firefox to automatically send crash reports]].
