Facebook link crashes computer
Hi: I'm using Firefox 91.02. It works great until I sign on to https://facebook.com.
At that point not only can it not handshake, but all my other tabs and links no longer work. I have to restart and then everything is fine, unless I click on FB.
My system is well protected with AVG.
Can you please advise?
Thanks. David

It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or it could be Hardware Acceleration. How to disable Hardware Acceleration {web link}
Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)
In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Disable a few add-ons, then Restart Firefox.
Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All Of them.
If the problem continues, disable some more (restarting FF). Continue until the problem is gone. After, you know what group is causing the issue. Re-enable the last group ONE AT A TIME (restarting FF) until the problem returns.
Once you think you found the problem, disable that and re-enable all the others, then restart again. Let us know who the suspect is, detective.

You have a weird user agent with some random text appended (/W9HhGoxb-26) that looks suspicious and likely makes your user agent quite unique.
- Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:91.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/91.0/W9HhGoxb-26
See:
We recently had other threads that also shows such a weird user agent.
- /questions/1349371 Browser 'Out of Date' Message on a Website
- /questions/1349205 Internet crashing when not clearing browser and rebooting computer.
I tried both those things to no avail:-(
Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
Are you able to determine what software or Firefox extension adds the random string to the user agent as that software might also be causing the crashes ?
Do you have any anti-tracker software that might be randomize the user agent with each request ?
Hi: I can access facebook in safe mode.
I do have AVG tracking.
Next steps, please.
Thanks, David

Thanks so much. I disabled the AVG tracking software and it seems fine for now.
Thanks so much for your help - David
Glad to help. Safe Surfing.
Can you confirm that this also means that your user agent no longer has the random string appended ?
I'm not really sure what to look for
Your user agent should be this:
- Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:91.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/91.0
In the question it shows as:
- Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:91.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/91.0/W9HhGoxb-26
