How can I prevent loud audio ads on Firefox home page?

Extraordinarily loud Ads pop up on top middle of Firefox home page. Example--Ashley Furniture. The adds play even if I am using another application outside of Firefox.

What home page do you currently use?

That seems really suspicious. Are you using the built-in home page whose internal address is about:home or a different page? If the address cannot be copy/pasted from the address bar, you can find it using the Page Info dialog. Either:

  • right-click (or on Mac, Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info
  • (menu bar) Tools menu > Page Info

On the first tab, you should find Title and Address. To select the address, you can triple-click it. Use either Command+c or right-click > Copy to copy it, then you can paste it into a reply (Command+v or right-click > Paste).
