When I click on the star to bookmark a web page, the box comes up as usual, but often disappears after a second or two, before I can scroll down to select the folder I want to add the bookmark to. I then have to click the star again, to get the box (whatever the f*&$ it's called) to come up (again), at which point it stays long enough to add the bookmark. Firefox has only recently started exhibiting this behaviour. Is there a way to fix this?

Yes, that has been an issue since changes were made to Bookmarks in either Firefox 48 or 49. Any movement of the cursor / mouse will start a 3 - 4 second "timer" to automatically close the "Page Bookmarked" dialog. A 'fix' is in the works, but it won't happen as fast as we would like. For the time being, you can click the "Star" and then the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog which will stay open.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?
