When using Firefox on my 2018 MacBook Pro the cursor will either jump to the address bar or close the window in which I have been entering text. This has been happening since I got the MacBook Pro. This does not happen with other browsers, only Firefox. It has continued with this issue through several OS updates as well as Firefox updates.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
