Sorry to insist, but I'm totally stuck. The lastes TB upgrade has deleted all the messages that I had received, but the file still exists when I open TB, contrary to the sent, draft and trash files which have also disappeared. On the C: drive, the INBOX, SENT, DRAFT and TRASH files have been deleted (or hidden ? or displaced ?) and all I see are .msf files. 3 years' work down the drain. I can no longer receive or send any new messages. This concerns only the mailbox which is on IMAP. I have another mailbox with another address which is on a traditional POP server, and it still works. I tried to understand something to the report, but it is too complex for me to understand what went wrong. I couldn't find any information or solution in the GetHelp section. If I download again TB I fear I might definitely lose everything. Are the deleted files hidden somewhere and retrievable or totally and definitely lost? Or should I use another software more compatible with IMAP? Thanx...

I've just bought a new windows 10 laptop. Did a full backup of thunderbird 78 using mozbackup. Installed thunderbird 78 on new laptop, restored profile and emails, did not get back any local folders, account settings, when I reconnected to gmail it started sucking in every email I have ever sent or received into one big all mail folder.

I'm running Thunderbird v. 78.5.1 on a Windows 10 Pro workstation. Yesterday I added a new email account to a long-established Thunderbird installation with two other active email accounts. After I set up the new IMAP email account, I sent a test email to myself. I also tested the smtp setup by sending a test email to the new account. The emails were both sent and received successfully.

Today, however, Thunderbird can no longer access the saved passwords for any of the three email accounts. I've re-entered them numerous times. When I attempt to send an email, I get a failure message that says "Could not get password for smtp.[mydomain]."

When I go to Tools --> Options --> Privacy & Security --> and clicked on Saved Passwords, the "Saved Logins" box is empty. I've never used a master password.

Please advise what I should do now. I can't access any new messages for these three email accounts.

I cannot receive or send emails. I understand the recent security update to TLS 1.2 does not recognize my provider Atmosera. They updated their security protocol a few months ago but Thunderbird is not recognizing them. They said they were working with Thunderbird but had no idea when the issue will be resolved. I did the temporary work around with Config Editor but that no longer works either. I can use webmail but I don't care for it. Help!?

I've recently started using TBird on W7 after long using it & Eudora on OSX. I do NOT store passwords in the Password Manager; preferring to enter them when I restart.

But on one of the machines, I am harangued to reenter the passwords every few minutes. It also seems to be the case whenever I switch to a different folder on an account. (No, I've not been closing all the windows; I know W7 then stops TBird. I really miss my OSX Dock, but...)

I've not found a setting about this, and searching this forum has many entries about password manager but nothing I found about this.

Suggestions?

Last night I "losted" 2 emails from my Sent folder on a Dell laptop in tablet mode, running Windows 10 and what I think is the laresr version of Thundrrbitd. In both cases, the email msg was open. I clicked in the text portion of the msg, pressed CTRL+ A to highlight the text (prior to copying it). In both cases, the entire email vanished. I have lookrd in all Thundrrbird's folders & the Windows recycle bin. Nothing. GONE. I have left laptop running. My account is a POP; the internet provider doesn't archive sent msgs. I know the date that emails were sent & the recipient. Is there a Thundrbird archive or hidden file on my laptop that I could access? Any idea why this happened? I am wondering if it is a bug connected to using the laptop in tablet mide. Thank you.

The OAuth2 method work most of the time (about 70% of my attempts to read or send mail succeed), but this is hardly satisfactory!

Here is a typical episode (about once or twice a day on each of my computers):

1) Opened Thunderbird. 2) Waited for tbird connect to gmail imap server: "sending login information..." 3) After about 1-2 minutes I get an error message "authentication failure..."

Shutting down the program (tbird) a few times and restaring it often (not always) restores the GMAIL connection.

This has been going on for weeks ... Plz help

Updated app. Closed app. Rebooted computer. I use Windows 10. Ran with compatibility to Windows 7. Still the same. I created another new file. It had the same problem..

Hi, One of my colleagues complained that she had received only my own email to her and not the thread it was covering. I checked my Sent folder and confirmed that I had indeed sent the full thread. But anyway, I re-sent it with the same result.

I supposed that this was to do with her email settings and not mine (I think she uses Outlook), but I subsequently tried forwarded the same message direct from gmail and not from TB. And she received the full thread. So I infer is that TB must have at least something to do with it, and I would like to correct that if I can.

Ik had problemen met thunderbird. Om dit op te lossen heb ik de nieuwste versie geïnstalleerd. Hierdoor ben ik al mijn contacten kwijt. Waar kan ik die terugvinden en op welke manier kan ik ze terugzetten ? Hopelijk moet ik dat niet weer stuk voor stuk doen. Eén voordeel: Thunderbird werkt opnieuw vlot.

Good afternoon. Since the latest update to Thunderbird has arrived I keep getting a message when I log-on to retrieve my E-mails which says “ You are attempting to override how Thunderbird identifies this site. Click below to create a security exception.”

So each time I have to click on the box which prompts me to create a security exception. When I click the box to “ save “ the exception, it makes no difference. I have to do it every time.

As if this were not bad enough, I am now getting asked to “ verify my password “ for each of my two E-mail accounts, every time I try to access my E-mails. This never happened to me before and has only started over the past week or so.

I have AVG security in addition to their “ Premium Technical Support “ which costs a lot of money. I telephoned them today and spoke with two of their technical advisers, also gave them remote access to my PC so they could fix the problem. I spent almost TWO HOURS on the telephone while they tried various things, checked my operating system, checked the server details on Thunderbird and also ran the “ RKILL “ programme to check for any faults. They told me everything was fine. But after they had gone and I tried again to access Thunderbird, the same problems re-occurred. Surely there must be a simple way to address these two issues. I am getting very fed-up and wish I could simply speak to a technician on the telephone instead of like this ! Why can’t we do that ?

Microsoft banned all basic authentication method from Office365 because these method does not support multi factor authentication.

After that, I reconfigured the the configuration by used OAuth2 method on latest version of Thunderbird (78.5.1 (32-bit). The result as follows: + Can not receive new email from Offfice365 (Alert: As attached file No. 1)

+ However, I can send the email normally with OAuth2 via SMTP

Please help me fix this problem.

With a very recent upgrade on Thunderbird, the Spell Check window now pops up in the upper left corner of the monitor. For those with small monitors, this is a non-issue. If you are using a 50" 4K monitor, the Spell Check window is off on the other side of the room! I would like to suggest that the window appear touching the left or right of the composition window. This seems a logic and helpful edit! In case no one noticed, 4K monitors are half the price of 24" monitors of 1/4 the resolution! Thanks!
