I don't think I've ever seen the bookmarks and the address bar in the same row. Is it possible that you were using an add-on to combine those two bars?

To display the Bookmarks toolbar, try this:

Alt+v (to drop down the classic View menu) > Toolbars > Bookmarks Toolbar

To restore the new tab button to the tab bar

Alt+v (to drop down the classic View menu) > Toolbars > Customize

Check the buttons in the Customize dialog for one that has a + on it. If it isn't there, check other toolbars for it. In these locations, it looks a bit different, as noted in the attached screen shot. Can you find it?

when customize mode is activated "bookmarks toolbar items" is what the bookmarks and folders on the menu bar become titled as. when i show my bookmark toolbar to attempt to put things on it, i get the circle with a cross threw it, no go message and it is very thin. i can't put things on the bookmarks toolbar and it is thinner than pics i see online. customize mode shows it has icons from add-ons on it. i thought it might be thin until things were added. i was going to experiment by dragging things from a working bookmark toolbar. how do i make it work?

If the toolbar is the wrong height or width, the toolbar settings file might have become corrupted. You can do a factory reset on just the toolbars and then re-customize them. To do the reset, you use an option in the Safe Mode dialog as described in this article: Changes to toolbars and window sizes are not saved.

Since the dialog also can wipe out other settings, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings first, in case something goes wrong. See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

Does that help?

Actually, if you are using a custom theme, you might first try the default Firefox theme in case it is a theme-specific issue.

reset size and theme methods were tried. i still can not drag and let rest a bookmark on the long toolbar, only to the area i have in the screenshot linked above. next to the URL bar and menu.

Somehow your bookmarks that normally appear on the separate Bookmarks Toolbar (the part on the left) got onto your main Navigation Toolbar. To move them back, return to Customize mode and drag "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" to the Bookmarks Toolbar. Then click Done and hopefully that will stick.

You may want to reset the plugin.expose_full_path to the default false value.
Having it set to true will reveal that full path to websites as seen on the about:plugins page.

Maybe click the "Restore Default Set" button in the Customize window and start with a fresh customization.
That should bring the bookmarks to the Bookmarks Toolbar and the new tab (+) button on the tab bar.

You still haven't confirmed how you get the title bar on the menu bar.

"Bookmarks Toolbar Items" is the "container" for bookmarks that is normally on the Bookmarks Toolbar. If you move that container to another toolbar as you have done, you can't use the Bookmarks Toolbar for bookmarks - there's only one "container" available.

Moving the "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" container is a normal modification that I do on almost every new Profile I create - one un-named folder (with over 200 bookmarks), sitting between the URL bat and the Search Bar, on the Navigation Bar.

I think you have to make a new toolbar right now to do that .. there are many tools available in market to make a new toolbar, which helps more and you are easy to work with that,
