Cannot view videos on www.elleuk.com
I want to view the videos on Elle UK.com, which I can do on a PC (using IE) but cannot do on my home Mac using either Safari or Firefox.
I have gone through the tips provided in the help section (clearing the cache, updating plugins, etc.) and this has not worked.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how I see the videos?

Install the Flash Player. You can get it from here:-
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
For your convenience, here's a direct link to the Mac OS X version:-
http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_osx_intel.dmg
There's a potential snag though ... it only works on modern Macs using an Intel processor. If you're using an older Mac - such as the 'G4' or 'G5' models - then you're out of luck because Adobe stopped supporting that particular platform. If you're not sure what you have, read this:
Hi Kerframil
Updating my Flash Player was the first thing I did, I'm afraid! It still doesn't work, though.
I have a two-year-old Macbook Pro, so it isn't old. I have Mac OS X Leopard (won't be upgrading until Lion comes out).
Check whether Firefox is actually loading the plug-in by entering about:plugins in the address bar. A list of installed plug-ins will appear and among them should be Shockwave Flash. If it's not there then that's the issue that needs to be addressed.
On the other hand, if the plug-in appears to have loaded then confirm as to whether Flash content is functional at other websites, such as YouTube or by visiting Adobe's Test Adobe Shockwave Player page.
If the problem really seems to be isolated to elleuk.com then it might be that you have another extension/add-on installed which is impeding or blocking the content. I looked at the site briefly and found that the video content there is served by brightcove.com. Also, if the Javascript code from said domain isn't allowed to run - for whatever reason - then the videos won't play and there is no visual indication as to why that is. As an aside, if you're wondering what Javascript has to do with anything, note that it's used for detecting the presence of a working Flash player, among other things.
If you've gotten this far then, then there are a few things you can try. Ensure that Javascript isn't disabled outright in Firefox (Edit > Preferences > Content). You can also start Firefox in safe mode and opt to temporarily disable all of your add-ons, if any.
Finally, if the Flash plugin is present, up-to-date and proven working on other websites, if Javascript is enabled and no other add-ons are influencing the outcome it might even be the case that Brightcove's code is buggy although that seems rather unlikely. Unfortunately, I don't have a Mac with which to test.
Your above posted list of installed plugins shows that you have the Flash plugin.
- Shockwave Flash 10.3 r181
You can verify that you have the Flash plugin for Firefox on the Adobe Flash Players Test Page.
Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Thanks guys for your advice. I have done what you suggested but unfortunately, the videos still won't play. Very frustrating! I'm trying to find a contact there and ask the web site managers about this.
Thanks again for your advice.
Does the Flash plugin work on the Adobe welcome test page?
Hi Cor-el
Yes the Flash plugin works on the Adobe Welcome Test Page and confirms that I am using the latest flash player.
My javascript is enabled, I've cleared the cache twice, I've restarted Firefox in Safe mode.... I think there must be something wrong with their site! I've noticed there is a worse problem when I view the Red magazine web site - I can't see their images or videos at all! I don't really want to go back to a PC just to see these websites properly!
