Any browser can login to any website. As long as you have an account, there should be no problem.

Firefox is a web browser as the only way web browsers does email is by webmail aka web based email. Gmail.com is a webmail service yes so you can do your Gmail email's in a web browser like Firefox though you can also mange gmail in a email client such as Thunderbird.

Optimum sounds to be your ISP or Internet Service Provider and and they do have email service.
