Bonjour, J'ai essayé à plusieurs reprises d'installer Thunderbird (a chaque fois 1 don est requis) mais à chaque fois le même message s'affiche : "Le profil Thunderbird ne peut être chargé. Il est peut-être manquant ou inaccessible". Une première fois l'installation avait fonctionné mas j'ai essayé de modifier le profil afin qu'ils puissent reprendre le carnet existant sur mon ancien ordinateur. Aujourd'hui je suis bloqué. Avez vous 1 solution à me proposer ? Merci

Since the version 140.2.0esr (64-bit) in Windows 11 (24H2, and next 25H2), Thunderbird shows several problems, and the version 140.2.1esr did not resolve any issues. Thunderbird (version 140.2.0esr) stopped downloading emails, and stopped filtering incoming emails automatically. These problems have never occurred in previous versions of Thunderbird.

After being launched or after a check mail click, Thunderbird usually displays the following error message: "Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk place to copy the mailbox."

I have done all the required checkings, I have removed the file "global-messages-db.sqlite" and re-opened Thunderbird but nothing worked better. So I stress that this error message is wrong because there is plenty of free space on the SSD disk and the accessed files have 'full control' privilege for the system and for the current user.

After a while, new emails are finally downloaded and written to the Input folder: this proves that write privileges are correct and that there is enough free space on the disk. However they come late in time and some emails are downloaded duplicated.

Most often incoming emails are not filtered automatically, and I receive the following error message: "Error - xxx/yyy on Local Folders. The messages could not be filtered to folder 'xxx/yyy on Local Folders' because adding a message to it failed. Verify that the folder is displaying properly or try to repair it from the folder properties". This issue occurs although the folder xxx/yyy displays correctly and repair operations have been performed. On the contrary the same filters works quite fine when I run them manually from the Thunderbird menu =>Tools>Messages Filters (selecting all filters, clicking Run Now).

Within the Local Folders, the folders and subfolders containing new emails are no more highlighted with their name written in bold character font. The subfolder is only highlighted after it has been opened by the user. A very serious consequence is that the user may have missed important new emails, unless he opens the Activity Manager to see the list of new emails.

Sometimes when Thunderbird opens I get the message: "Error - Inbox on xxx@yyy. Unable to open the folder Inbox on xxx@yyy because it is in use by some other operation. Please wait for that operation to finish and then select the folder again". This message was never displayed by previous versions of Thunderbird.

I'll try to remain calm.

After trying around 20 different email apps to find one that does what I want (which isn't much anyway), I thought I'd try Thunderbird. I had used it many years ago and it was great. Not any more.

Every time I try to add an email account, it crashes. Here's what I've tried to fix it:

Disabled the Account Hub Started Thunderbird in Safe Mode Started Thunderbird in Troubleshoot Mode Created a new Thunderbird profile Checked the antivirus and firewall Gave Thunderbird permission to accept incoming connections Reinstalled Thunderbird twice Tried to manually set up the account offline Disabled hardware acceleration Forced the Profile Manager Manually removed the Account Hub entry from pref.js file Unchecked Thunderbird's access to Mac Contacts MacOS is up to date Created new user on Mac and started with clean install and obviously clean everything - it crashed.

No other mail program fails so spectacularly as Thunderbird. Has anyone got any idea as to what is going on.

could it be anything to do with my recently changing my [security] phone number and MS saying something about it taking effect in 30 days?. also i just yesterday used the TB tool to import my acct details which successfully recovered personal TB folders which had previously only been present on my other PC

am using up to date TB and win10

Until yesterday, I had no issues accessing my Yahoo account. However, all of a sudden, the Yahoo login popup has started appearing.

After entering the password, I get the error: "Something went wrong. We could not sign you in. Try again from a different device."

I checked and tried following:

  • The authentication method is set to OAuth2.
  • Cookies are enabled in settings
  • Tried Yahoo account password and app one time password
  • Deleted account in Thunderbird and created from scratch. The same login popup appears but fails the same.
  • Deleted all cookies from yahoo in the "Show cookies" dialog in the setting.

Any help is appreciated.

For the past few days I have been locked out of my main account - wbbtov@gmail.com - and have not received any emails since 15.28 on 14th October. emails are still coming through to that account on my mobile phone, but not to my computer (Windows 10). When I open Thunderbird on my computer, I get a message in a black box saying 'Thunderbird. Authentification failure while connecting to server imap.gmail.com.' I have reset my Google password for wbbtov@gmail.com via Google (it took 2 days) andf have entered the new password in the Thunderbird settings menu for the account and the imap setting, but cannot for the smtp setting, which remains that generated for the old password when I set up the account on Thunderbird. Can you please reactivate my wbbtov account? Thank you fort anything you can suggest. WB

Just the other day I noticed my Thunderbird doesn't log into my Yahoo account and as a result doesn't update the mailbox.

I get a pop up that asks for Yahoo mail address and then password. When I put the correct info there, all I get is "Something went wrong" message.

I've tried removing cookies, removing saved passwords, removing the account and restarting the PC. None of these helped.

I've also checked the IMAP and SMTP server addresses and ports are ok and it uses the SSL/TLS and OAuth2 for authentication.

Any idea what to try?

Sinds 15 of 16 oktober (nieuwe update?): Thunderbird programma werkt (bijna) goed. Mail opstellen werkt goed. Maar ..... er wordt geen mogelijkheid meer geboden om de opgestelde mail te verzenden!! Kan nergens op verzenden of iets dergelijks drukken. Wel werkt: vet-cursief, vergroten en verkleinen letter, smiley en meer zaken worden wel weergegeven maar spelling bijvoorbeeld weer niet. Hoe kan dit worden opgelost. Ik ben een echte digibeet! Thunderbird opnieuw downloaden en installeren durfde ik niet aan, bang om alle mail kwijt te raken.

Ik zit er goed mee om het hand. Ik hoop op spoedig oplossing.

Hello everyone I'm running TB 128 on Linux Mint 21 and TB 140.3 on Windows 11 24H2. My email provider is Strato.de with IMAP. The problem is that TB doesn't allow unsubscribes from folders on either installation. So, if you select a server folder, the folder is displayed and the emails are included. I can unsubscribe from the subscription, and the folders are not gone. All folders and Mails are on TB.

With TB, all folders are loaded and all emails synchronized during installation and the first contact with the server. I can deselect folders in the "Subscribe" menu, but they are immediately available again. I can see in the TB status display that the unsubscriptions are being sent. Strato reports that their server is OK. It also works with Outlook 2013 in Windows 11 and two other email programs in Linux. It works well with other clients (Evolution, Balsa) under Linux. I can uncheck the folders from Server (Dialog in TB) and they're gone.

Today I also tested: 1. Live version Mint 22 TB 128 - same problem 2. Mint 21 TB version 115 - same problem 3. New mailbox/address created on Strato's server - same problem Can anyone explain this? Thanks. Holger

What happens when an email is downloaded but the settings have been changed to send a spam/junk email to a folder that does not exist.

When I Alt/click an email, the alt/click menu allows you to mark it as Junk. I have just set the junk option in settings (Global) to move junk mail to the Junk folder but the Gmail account does not have a Junk folder, only a Spam Folder.

Why do people use such unprofessional terms? It is Spam. Even "Folder" is childish to someone who started with Dos 5.0 although it is sort of correct.

I have also adjusted the notifications so I do see a quick notification about receipt of an email. I saw a notification that mentioned an email that was considered junk. I cannot find it. I do not know for sure whether it was junk or not.

Where could this email have gone? Gone forever? I have nothing set to totally remove emails. I do this manually. Emails caught by my Filters are sent to the Bin/Trash (another mix) so I can check them before deleting permanently.

Regarding the Bin/Trash mix mentioned, I have 4 accounts showing. An old IP based and a Gmail based account for both myself and my partner. My partner is not interested in using computers. My Gmail account has a Bin folder but the other 3 have Trash folders, all with bin icons. I have no idea about setting icons for these folders, nor do I care about this, meaning I don't think it is something I have done deliberately. I just find it weird and confusing that there is no convention followed.

So many emails require me to scroll to the right to finish reading one line, back to the left for the next, etc. They hurt my head, they take fireever to read, and they hurt my right arm too. Thunderbird used to have an option to wrap messages, but it looks like it was deleted.

I tried adding the following tom my user css:

  1. messagepane {
   margin-left: 45pt !important;
   max-width: 900px !important;
   margin-right: 45pt !important;

}

The margin-left works. It gives a spacer between the message pane and the folder list.

The max-width and margin-right don't work. The messages still require horizontal scrolling, and the scrollbar shifts left, right up against the text, so it doesn't give the needed spacer.

I use the spacers to avoid the parallax-induced migraines.

With a recent update to Thunderbird I get repeated reminders for events (in a Gmail/Google calendar) that can't be dismissed.

The error states: "An error occurred when writing to the calendar d.......@gmail.com! Please see below for more information."

Details read as follows: "MODIFICATION_FAILED Status Code: 2,147,500,037, null Server Replied with 400 If you’re seeing this message after snoozing or dismissing a reminder and this is for a calendar you do not want to add or edit events for, you can mark this calendar as read-only to avoid such experience in future. To do so, get to the calendar properties by right-clicking on this calendar in the list in the calendar or task view."

They're thrown the next time I start Thunderbird, as well. What gives?

Please don't ask if I have permissions to my own Google calendar. I do. If I log into the same account on the Web, I can edit calendar events to my heart's content. I can change them, create them, delete them, etc. all I want.

I am also not going to set this calendar as read-only, as the Thunderbird error message instructs. That is not an option; it won't happen; and it's not even a solution.

Any other ideas are welcome. Thanks!

I'm transferring to a new computer. The old computer is using version 140.4.0esr (yet it says it's up to date, when the other computer is using 144.0). I have 2 e-mail accounts setup, so the left panel is a little longer. In the old version that left panel that shows all the folders is 100% the height of the window. On the new one, the bottom panel which has the e-mail in it (preview at the top) takes up 100% width of the window. I need that left panel to be 100% height, and then the preview panel with the e-mails listed at the top (which it is) and the panel at the bottom that shows the e-mail at the bottom to fill up the rest of the window, if that makes sense.

I've added 2 screenshots. One for how it looked on my old computer and one for how it looks on my new computer. I want it to look like it did on the old computer.

I would also like to get the bar at the top back with the new messages, write, chat, address book, etc.

I have tried all the settings I can think of and things I've found online with no luck. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! TIA!

Can someone explain why the emails I write are still spell-checked, even though I have unchecked "Check spelling before sending message" and "Check spelling continuously" in "Settings" countless times? Even the Thunderbird add-on "Replywithheader" still checks spelling, even though I have unchecked "spell-check" there too. I don't want spell-checking, but I can't get away from it! It really bothers me.

I'm able to add the account manually using imap, but I want to use Exchange so I can access my outlook.com calendar and contact when TB is updated to include them.

Just converted to Windows 11 this passed week and downloaded Microsoft PC Manager to assist with disc cleanup. This last piece of information is highly significant I think.

I believe one of my initial runs of PC Manager may have deleted some data from 4 of my 5 email addresses that are generally used with Thunderbird mail.

The reason I say that is that 4 emails forced a login with full name, email address, password and IMAP default settings when I attempted to log in with each affected email separately yesterday.

Not really looking for any help as I think I shot myself in the foot unwittingly with PC Manager.

More a heads up for anyone who uses disc cleaners and decided to switch to a Microsoft design that isn't really intended for the masses, - or people who have used PC's for 30 years!

Oh well, live and learn ...
