In recent weeks, Thunderbird often hangs when I'm replying to another email and have written a sentence or two. It never recovers, and I have to close the program from Windows.

It doesn't always do this. On a few occasions, if I wait a while, close Thunderbird from Windows, and restart it, the partial is in the Drafts folder.

I'm running Windows 11 24H2, but I've been on 24H2 since December, and this problem is more recent.

How can I find information on actvating spell check to check spelling ? I have downloaded the dictionary but don't know where or how to find how to set up or settings.

I am using a E-mail server that uses LetsEncrypt certificates. I was using Thunderbird 128 ESR without problems. When the certificate was updated, I was requested to confirm - then sending E-mails was possible. Now I have updated to Thunderbird 140 ESR. The E-Mail servers LetsEncrypt certificate was now updated but in Thunderbird I do not get any information about this, nor get I requested to check the new certificate. The SMTP connection just fails. The IMAP access to the E-mail server works fine. (IMAP and SMTP work both fine with K9-Mail on my mobile device)

How can I get Thunderbird to ask me again to check the updated certificate?

Hi there, Cant add a second account to TBird on new installation on new PC with WIN 11. Works fine on WIN 10 and LINUX Mint but fails authentication on new WIN 11 PC. First account goes on OK but cant add a second. Have checked all setting but cant see a problem. Please advise. Thanks John

I have a Microsoft Online Exchange email account configured in Thunderbird 142.0 as an exchange account (not IMAP). I had a draft email in the drafts folder that was created using Outlook Web Access (OWA). Upon saving the email in Thunderbird, the email completely disappeared from the drafts folder. This email was not found in trash, sent items, outbox or anywhere else. Further if I create a new email message and click save or save as draft it appears momentarily in the drafts folder then completely disappears and cannot be found.

In Account Settings > [Exchange Email Account] > Copies & Folders > Drafts & Templates > Keep draft messages in: I have "Drafts" Folder on: [Exchange Email Account] set. If I change this to Local Folders, the draft message does not get lost (but also does not sync in exchange).

I also have a Gmail account in Thunderbird which does not exhibit this behavior of losing drafts. This is a fresh installation of Thunderbird.

Hello, I'm using Thunderbird version 140.2.1esr (64-bit). I want to create a new account with a different email address. In the first dialog, I'm asked for my "Full Name" and "Email Address." After that, I only have the option to click "Continue." Thunderbird then crashes, and even after several minutes, it doesn't continue. I've attached a screenshot. Creating multiple accounts is actually quite common for me; I've done it several times in the past with previous versions of Thunderbird without any problems. Thank you for your support. I accidently marked all of the emails in my mailbox as 'read'. FOrtunately I closed Tb before the change was applied to my server. HOw can I restart Tb so it uses the server, not internal notes, for the read/unread state of my mailbox?

Das Thunderbird-Mail-Programm war hervorragend. Leider finde ich nichts mehr davon wieder, da ich sofort bei der Anmeldung gesperrt werde. Und alles in englisch, ist für mich unmöglich. I use TB as a personal home email client & calendar. All the prenamed Category labels for events are primarily oriented to business use. If there a way to rename the Categories and apply a color that I want?

I have a fresh install of ubuntu 24.04.3,... on my AMD 'go-faster' PC. S/w all up to date,.. and snaps up to date. In my pursuit of migrating TB email from one m/c to another,... nothing works,.. least of all the TB i/f. My TB screen looks as follows:- with only a few seconds in-between shots. This 'font' type issue is my primary problem,.. and is consistent even if a create a 'new profile',.. emails are display still with funny fonts, ( which change as my mouse moves over them ). secondary issue is in copying over my '.thunder' folder structure, from one m/c to new one,.. is TB insists on creating new profile,.. as it reports profile is outdated,.. yet as far as I can see both are running TB 140.2.0esr 64 bit. I have tried several clean installs,.. but results 'seem' to be the same. Does anyone have any ideas...

Overvejer at droppe Microsoft 365 til fordel for LibreOffice og Thunderbird, som begge er gratis og virker fint. Jeg vil høre om nogen der benytter Thunderbird kan få mails oversat automatisk eller ved at højreklikke og vælg oversæt, som det er muligt i Outlook Synes det er besværligt at skulle kopier teksten for at få den oversat. Whenever I send an email to anyone in my local council it arrives totally unreadable except for the header and subject. All the body text is gibberish, here is an example;

No other recipient has a problem. I have tried sending from different email addresses, used different fonts and still the same. If I send from my online email account rather than using Thunderbird the emails are received correctly. So it is something within Thunderbird that the organisations mail servers just does not like.

Any ideas please? Rather annoying when I am trying to communicate with my local councillors!

I want to backup the entire T-bird email database (all my emails) outside of T-bird as simply as possible. How does one do this in, I hope, one easy step? Note that I have 8 accounts (1 is g-mail). (I don't know which category this fits into.)

Fix the problem; how can I see all that are in the trash folder? I need to be able to delete the oldest ones and access those sent there recently in error. The display says there are over 900, but I can only see nine and the dates are not the most recent nor the least recent nor consecutive.

I get a lot of phishing emails. I usually forward them to various banks and businesses so the phishers can be stopped. However, now, Thunderbird thinks that I have been found to be a sender of spam--- therefore, I am blocked from forwarding almost everything (even if it is legitimate business !!). Oh how I would love to get my hands on a phisher; they have made a mess out of regular good people's lives. How can I get removed from Thunderbird's scam list. I'm not a scammer, spammer, phisher.
