I use Thunderbird with a HostGator mail account. This has worked perfectly with the desktop client for years. However with Thunderbird for Android, while it will send email, any mail I send to a Gmail account simply vanishes! Using the Edison Mail app on the same phone with the same account login credentials sends such mail perfectly! Any ideas?

When opening an eml file saved on the desktop, only a white page appears.

I have the latest version of Thunderbird installed. The email opens without any problems in my inbox. When I export it as an eml and open it again in Thunderbird, a blank page appears. The size of the file seems to indicate that the content is still there. This error affects several Windows 10 computers on the customer network. I exclude the usual errors, such as assignment of the standard program and incompatibilities

I am grateful for any advice

I'm using the dark theme overall. The issue arose today in replying to an email. The reply window comes up with a black background and black text which I can't see. When I click on the text/background color box I get a window to change it, click on that and get a color wheel. I select white for text or background, click okay, but nothing changes in the reply window - the background and text are still black. I've tried multiple times with the same result - any suggestions, please and thanks?

Context: I have set Thunderbird (version 128.13.0esr) to user Mail Dir. I am using a RHEL10 based distro (Almalinux10). Everything is working fine with received email. I need to manually process the received mail folder with an automation utility I had written in the past that was based on a Maildir folder structure.

I read through the article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/maildir-thunderbird - and noticed that it was around 6 years old and could not find any updated articles re. the current status of Maildir and Thunderbird.

My question(s): I noticed that the Thunderbird Maildir structure under the email profile does not seem to have a folder named 'new', it only has 'cur' and 'tmp'. This does kind of make sense, as from what I understand, the 'new' folder is intended for messages that have been delivered, but not seen by any email applications. I am guessing Thunderbird has the email received in its user inbox, so it belongs in the 'cur' directory as it has been 'seen' by Thunderbird?

I was just wanting to confirm that it is that case that all email received by Thunderbird using a Maildir directory structure will always appear in the 'cur' folder. For reference, in my previous setup, fetchmail was retrieving email from a remote email server and as a result all email received appeared in the 'new' directory. My automation application processed all email in the the 'new' folder and archived them once processed.

Thank you.

Hello! I have used Thunderbird for many years. Lately, it waits much too long to prompt compacting all accounts. When "Compact all folders when it will save over ..." is set down to 1MB total, it still does not prompt until it has to clear 30 or 40 MB.

It didn't do this in the past, prompting me every 2 or 3 days at higher settings. So, I'm curious if this is "normal" now and I need to manually compact, or if there is a problem with 'Account Settings > Disk Space > Compact all folders' ... ?

Hello,

We are using Mozilla Thunderbird on a Windows-based computer to manage our corporate email hosted on the Yandex domain. We are facing an issue: emails sent to addresses ending with @gmail.com do not reach the recipients. However, we can successfully receive emails from @gmail.com addresses.

Could you please advise how we can resolve this issue and what settings in Thunderbird should be checked to ensure correct email delivery?

Thank you!

I have tried at least 6 different ways to get my unique 'local folders' copied into my new computer running windows 11 from old windows 10 computer. I've tried different ways of copying folders, copying in the unique ini address, using the "%AppData%" approach and several other ways I've found on internet searches. None of these are working. Could several people tell me how they recommend I do this so I can find if there's another way I haven't tried yet. Very frustrated with this and wish I hadn't bothered donating to Thunderbird ever since this problem has cost me at least 15 hrs of my life at this point. Transferring filed emails that took years to fill should not be so cumbersome and should be a much easier task. Shameful. Thanx.

Recently I've noticed that Thunderbird asks to compact folders very frequently and if I say 'later' the size of the file needing compacting grows substantially each time (typ. 3 to 5 GB increase). See attached screenshot When I finally tell it to compact folders, the message pane goes blank but usually (but not always) returns. When it does come back there is an error window (See attached screenshot )

This is a new phenomenon and is making Thunderbird a pain to use: it wastes time and is scary when the Mozilla support pages say it can lose messages. I'm reluctant to have it do compacting automatically.

Can this bug be fixed? I'm on 138.0.1 on Win 11, but the question in support only customizes to 128. Probably irrelevant. I have plenty of disk space and RAM space available

I'm a decades long Eudora/Thunderbird user and don't want to have to change to something else. Thunderbird is great, except for this.

Help please. Thanks,

I've been using the current version of Thunderbird Daily for several months without any issues. I recently started using the Calendar and assigning specific categories for events. I'm able to easily assign different colors for each category, but unfortunately the color displayed on my calendar is always the same (sort of a pale red).

Hoping someone can help me figure out why my events aren't being displayed in the appropriate color of the assigned category.

Thanks!

PS. The ScreenShot shows several events that have been assigned different category colors

I get the following message from Thunderbird and denying to send it: "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: [VO-101] Message blocked due to spam content in the message.. Please check the message and try again." I spent quite a bit of time with my ISP and the tech did a number of tests and then determined that it is a Thunderbird problem. She then had me go into Thunderbird outbound settings and check "Normal Password" once or twice and the problem was solved for about 2-3 weeks...until today. The system is back at it's old tricks and now I can't even send out a message with a simple link to a story, article, etc. Not always, but if I try to send it to 10-20 friends, it kicks the message back with the above message. Needs a permanent solution. Thanks.

Has anyone out there received a message or messages 4-6 weeks after the send date. In cleaning my files I often find unread messages from months ago even after I know I have deleted all messages from a specific source. i.e, a friend of mine sent me an email then was a little bit discouraged when I didn't respond. I went back at looked at my messages and his was nowhere to be found. About 3 weeks later when cleaning out my messages, there if was, unopened and about 3 months late. Anyone else experiencing similar problems. This is not the only incident in which this has happened. the same has happened with other no so important messages.

Recently my Intel NUC died and I have switched to using n ASUS Strix laptop with a Synology NAS storage. Since that switch whenever I start up Thunderbird I receive this error message; " The folder ‘Inbox on meddingsbasil@gmail.com’ could not be compacted because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again."

I am not sure if the error is in my ASUS Strix or in Thunderbird or elsewhere. If you can help, please note that I am a senile old geezer of 95 years and 7 months. I used to be OK with computers but I am now getting forgetful of how to do things.

Can you help ??

For the past 2-3 months my thunderbird has been virtually unusable. I can not pin down the issue but I reboot and restart the program and sometimes it works for seconds, other times it works for minutes or even hours. But I can not get through an entire day without it crashing. I need help with this issue. I am running Windows 7 Pro which is likely part of the problem. But this release states that it still supports it. Is there a solution to this problem?

Several times a day, TB pops up a message box with the following...

The folder 'Inbox on email@domain.com could not be compacted because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again.

I have a few accounts in TB, and it does this for all of them, but at seemingly random times.

Everything seems to work, it's just annoying to have these messages pop up.

I have 0.9Tb free space on the disk, so I don't think it's a lack of space! I also have admin rights to the file system, so that's not it either.

Anyone any idea why I get this? Thanks

Hello,

I run TB 141.0-64 with Windows 11 and am on the Release Update Channel. I've had Spam sorting problems for about a year, through many TB updates, and many Windows updates.... I run SFC, and DISM, regularly.

The Spam difficulties are of two types: Many messages appear in my Inbox, are marked as Spam, but are not moved to my Junk folder, so, I move these to their Junk home manually. Also, many messages appear in my Inbox that are obviously Spam, but are not marked as such, and, of course are not moved to my Junk folder. For each of these, I click on my Junk button, and these messages jump over to their Junk home to meet their new friends. Often, messages of this second category, are identical to messages that have been properly moved to my Junk folder earlier.

(Though possibly unrelated, I'll also mention that my CTRL-K Search function has failed for many months, typically, unable to locate messages that I then can locate manually.)

Finally - The the Spam sorting problems I've described, are intermittent. I can sometimes go for many hours with my Spam tools working as they should. Then, the Spam sorting system fails again, as I have described.

I express my thanks, in advance, for any assistance that you kind folks might be able to offer,

Lothar
