TBird connected to AOl fine for several years. Now, today, TBird tells me that my AOL password is incorrect. I changed the AOL password but TBird still does not work. I can sign on to AOL just fine using Chrome and going to the AOL web site, but TBird will not sign me in. Please help.

First my email providers web site works perfectly. I called them and double checked the proper settings. I can download my emails no problem. I disabled my antivirus program, and I have tried all the suggested settings and still no send. I installed Betterbird used the same settings Spectrum said to use for thunderbird and it sends and receives no problem so what's wrong with my Thunderbird?

I use Thunderbird as a POP server and keep some historic read emails in my inbox as well as archiving others to local folders. I am moving to a new windows 11 computer from an old windows 8 computer. So I exported my Thunderbird profile on the old computer, copied it across to the new computer, installed Thunderbird on it, then imported the profile. All my local folders are there with their historic emails, but there are no read emails in the inbox, only the unread ones ?? Be grateful for any explanation of why this is and how I get them back. thanks Martyn Jones

I'm hoping someone can help me recover a local task calendar.

Environment Thunderbird 152.0.1 (aarch64) macOS Local Thunderbird calendar (not Google, Exchange, or CalDAV) What happened

Several months ago I deleted a local calendar because I believed I was no longer using it. Unfortunately, that calendar contained all of my Thunderbird tasks.

After deleting the calendar:

the local calendar disappeared from Thunderbird all of my tasks disappeared I have not created any new local tasks since then

What I have recovered

I have an older copy of my Thunderbird profile from before the deletion.

From that profile I have:

calendar-data/local.sqlite prefs.js

I inspected the SQLite database and confirmed that it contains 394 tasks.

The task records appear intact, including task metadata such as:

titles categories completion information recurrence tables alarm/snooze tables related Thunderbird calendar metadata

All of the recovered tasks belong to the same calendar ID:

8420c0c3-6b20-436c-a39b-d4183d2665e1

Current profile

My current profile contains only my two iCloud CalDAV calendars.

The deleted local calendar no longer appears in prefs.js.

Because of that, the task database appears to be orphaned.

What I have already tried Restoring the old local.sqlite Creating a new local calendar Exporting the tasks to ICS and importing them

Thunderbird reports:

"No importable items found in the file."

My question

Since the task records still exist in the original local.sqlite, is there a supported way to:

recreate the missing local calendar definition so Thunderbird recognizes the existing tasks, or migrate the orphaned tasks into a new local calendar?

If necessary, I'm happy to provide:

the recovered local.sqlite the current prefs.js any additional profile files

My goal is simply to recover the 394 tasks into my current Thunderbird profile without losing any data.

Yahoo.com decided to be jerks and changed everything to get into our email. I was overseas at the time and got it taken care of for the laptop I was using on my trip. When I got back home I updated the rest of my computers to the new settings. However, this computer I am on, my secondary desktop, absolutely positively does NOT show Oauth as a choice for smtp on my Pacbell.net account which has to go through Yahoo.com. All the other server settings are working fine. I can get email, I just can't resply unless I go to my Netscape.net account which goes through AOL. It shows Oauth for AOL. The rest of the computers, and even a new laptop, all work just fine and all are on version 152.01. Even SeaMonkey email has Oauth for smtp but they have done a terrible job of keeping it updated that I can't use it for my Pacbell.net account because I can't enter the new password. Everything is a blank screen for log in and password entry. I am getting tired of having to reply to messages on my Pacbell.net account through the Netscape.net account. What can I do short of a clean reinstall of windows?

I've completed all the required information when trying to add an account to Thunderbird. The Account Hub finds my email address at Posteo and loads the configuration found out the provider. I then add my password, which I know to be correct as I've only just created it. But Thunderbird keeps telling me there is an "authentication error". I'm at a loss to know what the error is.

Really weird problem with a friends thunderbird setup.

All of a sudden my friend was unable to get here emails. It kept saying the password was incorrect. Of course she didn't know her password but it was saved in Fire fox. Found the password and verified her centurytel webmail works. So put it in Thunderbird and still give me an error. I then decided to install Thunderbird on my personal laptop and everything works fine. So I decide to do a clean install, deleted all profile folders and everything. Reinstall Thunder bird and get an "Authentication error". I tried disable all her firewalls on her computer (Windows 11) and disabling the firewalls on the router/modem itself. It still doesn't work. I think next thing I will try is my laptop that has thunderbird installed with her email account.

Any other ideas?

I use Thunderbird 152.0.1 (64-Bit) and I only have three items in the files & attachment section of general settings (JPG, PDF, Excel). How can I add more items, for other file types? Is there an easy way to do this or does this mean I have to deep dive into the configuration of Thunderbird?

And would it be possible to add an item to declare that website links in e-mails have to be opened with Firefox in private mode, which is not the standard browser on my machine?

I transferred data to a new computer. I have two emails, when I click 'New Message' one email has a line below the subject line that allows me to set Paragraph, Variable width, font color, Font size Bold, etc. the other does not have the line where do I turn it on at?

I had logged this issue in early 2025 but it has never been resolved and still exists.

I received a reply today, Tuesday 7th July, from Wayne Mery, who said "If you are still having problems when using a newer version, please post a new question and we'll take a new look at it.". as the original post has been archived.

So, here are the details:

I have the settings set to Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them, which is the setting I have always had and I used to get automatic prompts for updates with a window opening to show the details of the update as I get in Firefox.

Can someone tell me how to get these automatic updates back."

Hi, I have two accounts in my Thunderbird. They are Gmail (regular gmail account) and CFCC (an institutional account). The CFCC shows up in my Unified Folder list but the Gmail does not. Is that normal? The main Inbox is showing all incoming emails from both accounts so no performance issues, just wondering how to get rid of the CFCC (if that's possible) to eliminate clutter. I am experiencing an issue where clicking links inside Thunderbird emails forces Microsoft Edge to launch a completely brand new window with a blank profile (no extensions, default settings). It does not open as a new tab in my active window.

My environment details:

• OS: Windows 11 (Version 25H2) • Default Browser: Microsoft Edge (Only one profile exists under edge://settings/profiles, no Workspaces used). • Thunderbird version: Latest stable release.

When Thunderbird passes the HTTP/HTTPS link to Windows, Edge seems to ignore the standard "Default" user data directory profile and launches a temporary or guest-like profile container instead.

Is this a known bug in how Thunderbird handles external URI handlers, or is it an Edge registry/default app assignment issue? Any help or workaround config settings would be appreciated. Thank you!

I already have View > Sort by > Date is selected, View > Sort by > Descending selected, and thread sorting set in settings. See screenshots. Threads sorting so newest is at the bottom, they should be at the top. General emails are sorting properly, newest at the top.

I have a newly downloaded copy of Thunderbird, and I'm signed in to Firefox. When I try to install it, I get as far as Creating Account, and the installer hangs with a spinning circle. Please help.

- Thunderbird set up 19/05 & email/ history /folders downloaded - Moved from DNS to GANDI Email server provider this week but now all folders/historic email are no longer visible in Thunderbird email - How do I get them back and how do I synchronise Thunderbird & Gandi so that emails shown in WEBMAIL include all History and not just new emails since Gandi switched on? Put up a message regarding support to resolve issue with Thunderbird this morning. Cannot see the message or if any answers? Query was ref downloading email & history to Thunderbird while moving to another server provider (Gandi) and all history now missing.

Due to disk space constraints, I wanted to download only the message headers, not the content. I configured the account, disabled synchronization, and Thunderbird downloaded all the messages with the content. What did I do wrong? The account was configured via IMAP.
