downloaded latest update and all my bookmarks disappeared
Why did they disappear and how do I retrieve them.

Hi! An update normally shouldn't delete your bookmarks. In many cases, Firefox has started using a different profile, so your old bookmarks are still on the computer. Mozilla specifically recommends checking this after an update.
First, don't uninstall Firefox or delete any profiles.
1. In Firefox, type "about:profiles" in the address bar and press Enter. 2. Look for another profile besides the one currently in use. 3. Click Launch profile in new browser for the other profile. 4. If your bookmarks appear there, return to "about:profiles" and click Set as default profile for that profile.
If there isn't another profile containing your bookmarks, try Bookmarks → Manage bookmarks → Import and Backup → Restore and select the most recent backup from before the update. Firefox normally keeps automatic bookmark backups.
If neither method works, please check whether you have an Old Firefox Data folder on your Desktop. Your previous profile may still be stored there and can potentially be recovered.
Do not delete or overwrite anything in your Firefox profile yet, as that could make recovery more difficult.
