Desktop broser freezes after login

more options

Hello, today I have set up a new account for work and I have trouble signing in. Actually, I manage to sign in, however I am then shown the screen which gives me the option to create account recovery key and the browser freezes completely. I am unable to click on anything, the only option is to go to the Task Manager and kill the program there. Then, when I open Firefox again, I am not signed in (even thought I recieve the email about a new sign-in to mozilla) and have to try the process again, only to experience the freezing browser again. How can I solve this or troubleshoot? I have Win11, my broser is supposedly up-to-date. Thank you! Anna

This looks like Firefox is getting stuck on the account setup step rather than the login itself. A few people have hit this when something blocks the recovery key screen from loading properly.

You can try starting Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to see if it completes the sign-in without freezing. If that works, it usually points to a graphics or profile issue. Also worth checking if hardware acceleration is enabled and turning it off, then restarting and trying again.

If it still freezes, creating a fresh Firefox profile and signing in there often fixes it, since a corrupted profile can cause this exact behavior.

Thank you very much for your reply! Unfortunately turning off hardware acceleration or trying to sign in in troubleshoot mode didn't help, the browser still freezes. I have tried to sign in on my personal computer, however, and it works there, so it seems like the profile shouldn't be corrupted. Is there anything I can try before I delete this profile and try setting it up again? Thanks, Annna
