Firefox 115 ESR is the final version for Windows 7/8.1. You have to upgrade your operating system to Win 10 or install Linux.

Are you indeed using Windows 8.1? if so then that is the reason.

Firefox 116.0 to current versions requires Windows 10, 11 to run. Otherwise the other option is to say dual boot with a Linux distro and if you install the tarball version from Mozilla then you will continue to get Firefox updates from Mozilla even after the Linux distro is made EOL in package updates..

Hmm that KB article needs a small update, will submit an update later as I need to go.
