What OS are you using ? What version of Thunderbird are you using ?
When you say 'retrieve my email addresses' what are talking about? Are you talking about missing Address Books ? Are you talking about creating mail accounts for email addresses? Is this the first time you have used Thunderbird? If yes, what server are you trying to connect - gmail ? outlook ? BT? comcast ? etc
What is the problem ? Are you saying Thunderbird started and all the mail accounts and folder seem to have disappeared and Thunderbird is asking you to set up a new mail account?
Post images to help explain the problem. Post images of error messages if you get one.
