My problem is that on my laptop I have Firefox set up to go straight to BBC news when I open it. I can't seem to make this the home page on my Android phone and the various articles don't seem to help.

Unfortunately, it's not currently possible to set custom homepage on Firefox for Android. If you want to advocate for this feature, please consider voting on this idea in the Mozilla Connect platform.
