Hi,

Firefox has just updated itself on my laptop and the tab size is now too big. It just feels like a huge strip of the top of the screen is now being wasted. Is there a way to reduce the size of the tabs?

Thanks.

Hi,

We bring a modernized and differentiated look to tabs since Firefox 89 in order to create a signature Firefox look and experience. This major redesign will help us enable more use cases and features in the future.

Awesome, except, it's cluttering up usable space with excessive empty space.

My tabs need to have 2 or 3 pixels removed from the top and bottom and the same goes for my bookmarks as well, 2 or 3 pixels removed from each entry, they scroll out the bottom of my window now where they did not do this before.

At least the address bar no longer goes double size when selected or when it's empty.

use about:config find browser.proton.enabled and change it to false.

Where would I go to explain that I prefer a compact view to my desktop because all the wasted space is distracting.

And word changes to the menu's at that, why did they remove a perfectly useful and CLEAR use of the word DELETE?

So where do I find: use about:config find browser.proton.enabled and change it to false.

This new huge tab really stinks. Either I fix it or go back to an old version.

Tabs height is very big. We need compact size. We need to have the ability to modify the tab size.

So, just because this popped up.

And to put this in perspective.

I have several machines in my rack that are only accessed via remote desktop applications.

To keep things manageable, the screen size is set to 800x600.

As bad as the new layout looks on my main desktop, which is 1920x1080, try looking at the UI with that constraint.

And it really breaks your kinaesthetics to work with.

Will someone hurry up and make a fix for this?

I don't know what the Mozilla team thought when they changed this, but some people out there clearly don't use Firefox on a daily basis to make such bad changes.

And about your "modernization and differentiated look", let's talk about that, who asked for it? If we use Firefox, that's because we like it as it is. Don't make changes that people never asked for, that's waste of time for your developers.

Hi Wolfy, According to the blog post at https://blog.mozilla.org/en/products/firefox/fresh-new-look-for-firefox/ the latest changes were based on user feedback. To participate in that feedback, you can also leave feedback for Firefox developers by going to the Help menu and select Submit Feedback.

It doesn't look like the person who posted the original question is going to respond, and others seem to be using this thread for there own issues, so I'm going to lock this thread.

For better help, it would be best to use https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new where volunteers can get more details about your setup.
