Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

• Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

• On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
• On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
• On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
  (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

The video appears to use the Flash Player Plugin so make sure you have the NPAPI version installed on system.

You can install the current 28.0.0.137 version in your package manager or from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

If Firefox was still open when you install Flash you can either restart Firefox or type about:plugins in the Location (address) bar for Firefox to scan for Flash Plugin.

I tried "about:plugins" on my Firefox (v.52 on Lubuntu 17.10). It is'nt present Flash Plugin. The only two plugins are: Codec video OpenH264 realizzato da Cisco Systems, Inc. and Modulo Widevine Content Decryption fornito da Google Inc. "Therefore, the legacy NPAPI plug-in support in Firefox, deprecated since October 2015, has been removed from Firefox 52 with the exception of still-popular Adobe Flash Player." Of course in my Firefox there is neither Flash Plugin. I Tried to install version 28.0.0.137 of Flash Plugin but "Software" (Apt/Debian) does'nt permit.

I run Lubuntu 17.10 (January 10 2018) that includes: Firefox 57.0.4+build0ubu It seems like this Firefox version does'nt include Flash Plugin, after the dismission (52 release) of NPAPI? "Software" package in Lubuntu 17.10 does'nt permit download/install of Flash Player 28.0.0.137 Thankyou

That web page uses the Shockwave Flash plugin to play the video. Make sure that the Flash plugin is installed and enabled on that page.

You can find a Lego block icon at the left end of the location bar indicating that the web page uses a plugin (Flash) that Firefox might block. You can click this Lego block icon to allow or block this plugin.

I tried the download of Flafh Player 28 (FP 28) for Linux Ubuntu (apt). The application on Lubuntu 17.10 is "Software". Software says (trying to download and install FP28 that "it is impossible to manage "channel=$distro-partner" and stop. So Firefox is stil without a Flash Player Plugin. On Ubuntu 12.04 updated at today on the same computer Firefox at "about:addons" shows "Shockwave Flash". Ububtu 12.04 works fine the same video Lubuntu 17.10 refuse. See the "Software" screenshot at the top: "impossibile gestire apt///......partner".

Try the Firefox for GNU/Linux from Mozilla instead of the one from Ubuntu.

I installed Chromium via package Lubuntu "Software" (interface to apt debian). In tthe screenshot the result of access to the same video: "Not Supported Plugin". The GNU Browser doesn't work (Lubuntu 17.10 Linux kernel 4.3.....)

You can try to download the tar.gz Flash version and extract the libflashplayer.so file from the archive and copy the file to a location that Firefox scans for plugins like ~/.mozilla/plugins/

Thankyou. It is a political question. Firefox decided to stop using Flash. Chromium is faster and stable too. Chromium permits to answer about unsopported plugin and displays "unsopported plugin" when I try the video we refer to. The meaning is that Chromium and Mozilla block the plugin, while Chromium displays its action Mozilla freezes. without notice. I am a software specialist and a sociologist of Free Software. My opinion is that to try shortcut doesn't matter.

I solved the problem. I installed Lubuntu 16.04 in place of Lubuntu 17.10. The same Firefox 57.0.3. BUT Lubuntu 16.04 install Shockwave Flash Plugin that Firefox eats during system generation. The path I presume is: 1. Lubuntu 16.04 load Flash Plugin (Schockwave) 2. Lubuntu 16.04 load Mozilla Firefox linking it to the lib containing Flash Plugin If so its'nt safe to link manually the Plugin to the browser.

I used about:plugins and the response is in the screenshot: Shockwave28.0 The important question is the control of Software Installation by Lubuntu. To bypass the Lubuntu package manager is unsafe and not viable to recommend. Lubuntu like Ubuntu controls the source of packages.

The Flash Player download options for Linux from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ is perfectly safe.

I prefer to install Flash by way of extracting libflashplayer.so from .tar.gz and placed into created plugins folder in /home/username/.mozilla/plugins/

Downside is you have to manually update however I can get new versions faster and have control.
