import bookmarks from old firefox

Firefox prompted me to click on something to speed it up. I did this. It seemed to get rid of a lot of stuff, but it was supposed to have saved my history, bookmarks, etc. I can find none of this stuff! Help! I need all this back. How do I get it back?

Sorry to hear that. The Refresh feature is definitely supposed to retain bookmarks and saved logins. (Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings)

Assuming the process ran to completion normally, you should find a folder on your desktop named Old Firefox Data. Inside will be your Firefox settings folder -- profile folder -- from the time of the Refresh. Inside the semi-randomly-named profile folder will be a folder named bookmarkbackups containing compressed backup files. To restore one of those to your current Firefox profile, please see the steps in this article (you'll use Choose File) to point Firefox to the old folder): Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer.

Bear in mind that the restore process completely replaces your current set of bookmarks, so if you've been rebuilding already, export those out to an HTML document for reference:

Finally, if you want to restore a lot of other old data, you have two choices:

(1) File-by-file rebuild: Recovering important data from an old profile

(2) Whole-folder-contents replacement: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1173024#answer-1000478
